AUTHOR KEIR GRAFF WRITES PRESS RELEASE TO PROMOTE HIS THRILLER, THE PRICE OF LIBERTY

Calls the Experience "Rewarding"

CHICAGO, IL—To announce the promotional activities for his fourth novel, The Price of Liberty, Chicago author Keir Graff has written a press release. He has written the press release in third-person, hoping to create the illusion that he maintains the services of a publicist. Misspellings and grammatical errors throughout are should contributing to this effect. As is customary, key information has been set in boldface.

"For my fourth novel, I wanted to try something different," Graff quotes himself as saying. (In reality, a transcription of words he has merely thought, not actually said aloud.) "While The Price of Liberty is thematically consonant with my last two novels, One Nation Under God and My Fellow Americans, it is faster-moving, more humorous, and has an ensemble cast. I had a lot of fun writing from a villain's point of view, too, something I had never done before."

(Here Graff has ignored advice against using high-flown language, such as "thematically consonant," in the purely functional medium of the press release.)

Early reviews have been strong. Library Journal noted Graff's sense of humor and called the book "another winner." Publishers Weekly noted Graff's cynicism and called the book "a solid political thriller" in which the actons of the hero, Jack McEnroe, "keep the pages turning easily." Kirkus Reviews declined to comment.

In addition to several bookstore appearances, Graff will also be visiting libraries. In a lightearted and informative lecture, illustrated with slides, he will tell his own story of breaking into print while offering practical advice about getting published, staying published, and, presumably, writing press releases. Regarding this press release, Graff thinks, "I hope it will be rewarding."

A list of currently scheduled appearances follows. (Updates will be posted at www.keirgraff.com/appearances.)
