The Price of Liberty and the Sunday Papers
How was your Labor Day weekend? Mine was very pleasant, and not only because of my trip to Fermilab. I was enjoying a good conversation with the Chicago Tribune's Rick Kogan on WGN when he mentioned that I'd received a positive review in the Chicago Sun-Times—and encouraged listeners to buy a copy. (Of my book, of course, but also the rival newspaper!) The media landscape sure looks different than it used to, doesn't it?
The reviewer, Jeffrey Westhoff, misses the "paranoia" of the previous two books but seems to have enjoyed himself anyway:
"Jack is less of a victim than Graff’s other protagonists, and consequently much of the paranoia that drove the earlier thrillers is missing — and is missed. Graff makes up for this with a quicker pace and an unpredictable plot filled with reversals and tragedies. By the time you reach the halfway point, you can’t stop reading.
"Other contemporary thriller writers resort to the exotic and outlandish to sustain their narrative, but Graff builds suspense around real people in the real world. He plugs his characters into the everyday and reveals how unnerving it can be."
I'll post a link to the WGN audio when it becomes available.
